The Number Story Behind Astrology Sisters

Follow the arithmetic behind our name and collection, then explore the symbolic themes we chose to place beside it.

A brand name has a sound before it has a calculation. Astrology Sisters suggests a place to arrive with a question, open a notebook and learn in welcoming company. Its number story is another layer: a little pattern we chose to explore, with the working left in view.

Here is that story for the current collection. The arithmetic is reproducible. The meaning is an invitation.

The letters, without a hidden step

Our name explorer repeats the values one through nine across A to Z. A, J and S receive one; B, K and T receive two; the pattern continues through I and R at nine. Hans Decoz documents this familiar mapping in his Expression-number explanation. 1

ASTROLOGY becomes:

1 + 1 + 2 + 9 + 6 + 3 + 6 + 7 + 7 = 42.

SISTERS becomes:

1 + 9 + 1 + 2 + 5 + 9 + 1 = 28.

Together, 42 + 28 = 70, and 7 + 0 = 7. Spaces do not add a value.

We use a complete single-digit reduction. That means eleven becomes two, twenty-two becomes four and thirty-three becomes six. Some schools retain master numbers; our explorer makes a different, explicit choice. It is a compact name exercise, not a complete personal numerology chart.

Seven as an invitation to inquire

Decoz associates seven with inquiry and inward investigation. We borrowed that association as a creative theme for the brand. 2

What would inquiry look like on an ordinary afternoon? Perhaps checking how an aspect was calculated before interpreting it. Perhaps asking what else a symbol could mean. Perhaps keeping a question open long enough for your own experience to answer.

The name does not cause those habits. We have to build them into the materials and practise them ourselves. That is the interesting challenge of choosing a symbol: giving it a useful expression in real work.

Three for finding your words

The current Foundations contains twelve lessons and forty-eight quiz questions; the Journal contains thirty prompts. Twelve reduces to three. Forty-eight becomes twelve, then three. Thirty also becomes three.

Practitioner numerology often links three with creativity and expression, including in Decoz's account. 3 Our editorial version is simple: learn an idea well enough to say something of your own.

That could mean explaining a calculation, asking a clearer question or writing a paragraph that sounds like you. A course needs more than a pleasing count to support those activities. The explanations, questions and practice must still do their jobs.

Six for the care of practice

Twenty-four Atlas cases reduce to six, as does the count of six core worksheets. Care and responsibility are themes in Decoz's account of six. 4

For us, care looks like giving a learner enough information to attempt a case, showing the working, and making it possible to return after an error. It also means leaving unsupported details out of a reading.

The five reference sheets offer a separate cue: exploration. Use them as places to compare, check and ask another question. These associations are our design language, not an instruction to make every future edition keep the same numbers.

Nine for bringing the pieces together

The individual prices are $81 for Foundations, $18 for the Journal, $45 for the Atlas and $27 for the Toolkit. Each reduces to nine. Core plus Journal totals $99; all four total $171, before applicable tax. These are sums of the individual prices, not extra bundle discounts.

Integration is our chosen word for nine, loosely connected with the broad perspective and completion themes in Decoz's writing. 5 It does not imply that these prices bring luck, improve learning or guarantee commercial success.

Try the story on your own notebook. Choose one number, write its calculation, then give it a small practical meaning: “Seven reminds me to check one source,” or “Three reminds me to explain one idea.” Afterwards, ask whether the action helped.

A symbol can be a lovely reminder. The value comes from what you decide to do with it.
